The weekend of July 4th began on Saturday with numerous sea and land rescues across Oahu.
>> A 57-year-old woman suffered a serious back injury after jumping about 15 meters from the Maunawili waterfalls, the emergency services reported.
EMS said the woman jumped into the pool under the falls.
The Honolulu Fire Department took the woman to a nearby park at 12:34 p.m., where she was treated by ambulance services and taken to hospital in serious condition
On Tuesday, Honolulu firefighters rescued a 48-year-old woman with an injured ankle from the Maunawili Falls Trail.
>> On Saturday around 1:16 p.m., a 17-year-old girl slipped and fell while hiking along the Waahila Ridge Trail, HFD and EMS announced.
HFD said the girl was hiking with her father when she slipped and fell on a muddy path, injuring her back.
The hiker went to her car alone and refused medical treatment, EMS said.
>> Ocean Safety, the Honolulu Fire Department and EMS responded to a swimmer at the China Walls at 1:45 p.m., but the visitor managed to get out without being injured.
The agencies answered another call to another distressed swimmer in front of the Spitting Cave at 2:28 p.m.
HFD sent 12 people and the first firefighters were there at 2:36 pm, but the location was China Walls.
Good Samaritans kept a man and woman safe and did not require medical care.
>> Lifeguards towed a broken watercraft and its operators to safety a mile from Alii Beach Park at 2:15 p.m. Nobody was injured.
Ocean Safety urged beachgoers and swimmers to know their limits, watch children closely, and refrain from drinking alcohol when they get in the water.
People were also warned to stay away from the coasts when there was surf; and carry a mobile phone with you and immediately call 911 if someone is in need.
HFD warns against climbing wet rocks or ledges, suggesting that a wave has recently washed over them and could become slippery or a wave could hit someone and knock them over; Stay within your fitness and swimming skills; and avoid running water, waves or torrential currents.
