There have also been increased cases of COVID-19 in the NHL and some of the league’s star players have been affected.

The Calgary Flames were forced to postpone at least their next three games after the league announced that six players and one staff member had recorded the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol. Elias Lindholm, Andrew Mangiapane, Brad Richardson, Adam Ruzicka, Chris Tanev and Nikita Zadorov were all put on record.

The postponed games include:

Monday December 13th against the Blackhawks

Tuesday December 14th against the Predators in Nashville

Thursday December 16 vs. the Maple Leafs

It remains to be seen what is planned for Calgary’s scheduled home game against the Blue Jackets on Saturday.

Four Carolina Hurricanes members were inducted into the league’s COVID-19 log on Tuesday. Andrei Svechnikov, Jordan Staal, Steven Lorentz and Ian Cole were the players, according to Michael Russo from The Athletic. Russo and Pierre LeBrun both report that all four players also tested positive. The Hurricanes already had Sebastian Aho and Seth Jarvis in logs after the two tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

As a result of the positive tests in the Hurricanes locker room, Tuesday’s game between the Hurricanes and Minnesota will be wild has been postponed.
