The Dane Fujinaka has been hired as a baseball coach at Hawaii Pacific University, the school announced on Monday.
Fujinaka, with All-State Catcher at the Mid-Pacific Institute in 2011, replaces Dallas Correa, who stepped down to join the University of Hawaii coaching staff as director of player development.
Fujinaka, 28, has trained in the Toronto Blue Jays minor league system since 2019 and spent the past season as manager of the Blue Jays Dominican Summer League team.
Previously, he was an assistant coach at Illinois State, helping the Redbirds win the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference title before joining the Blue Jays organization. He also trained with Sacramento State, William Jessup and Menlo.
“I was very fortunate to have so many different baseball experiences at all levels of the game and in so many parts of the world, but this one one is certainly special to me,” said Fujinaka, who played college baseball in the state of Sacramento Menlo said in a press release. “Coming home and training college baseball for a school I grew up in has always been a dream of mine.”
Chaminade opens up a drive with momentum
Chaminades Annah Rivera and Lataisia ââSaulala scored eight kills each, and the No. 24 Silverswords won the Academy of Art in a Pacific West Conference women’s volleyball game on Monday in Belmont, California.
Chaminade (12-3, 2-1 PacWest) beat 0.287 and served nine aces, led by Anna Dalla Vecchia and Kendall Rios with three each, in the 25-19, 25-13, 25-20 win over the Urban Knights (4 -8, 1-3).

Bodirsky from HPU wins cross-country award
Jona Bodirsky, junior at Hawaii Pacific University, was named cross-country runner of the week at the Pacific West Conference on Monday.
Bodirsky received his second PacWest award of the season with a runner-up at The Master’s University Cross Country Invitational on Saturday in Santa Clarita, California. He was the best runner in Division II with a time of 24 minutes and 47.6 seconds.
PWC football award for Chaminades Cain
Chaminade newcomer striker Caili Cain was voted women’s soccer player for the Pacific West Conference on Monday.
Cain, a Kamehameha alumna, scored the decisive goal in the Silverswords 1-0 win over Hawaii Pacific on Saturday.
