The Oahu Grand Jury is indicting a man accused of sexually abusing an elderly woman in McCully’s apartment

HONOLULU (KHON2) – A man accused of sexually abusing a 71-year-old woman in her McCully apartment was indicted by a grand jury on Friday on numerous cases of sexual assault, kidnapping and burglary. A total of $ 250,000 bail was given.

The prosecution will demand the maximum sentence for 33-year-old Bronson Baruz if convicted.

“We will not tolerate violent and dangerous break-ins into the homes of our kÅ«puna,” said Attorney Steve Alm. “I thank the Honolulu Police for their efforts to investigate and arrest the suspect in this case.”

Officials said the incident happened around 7 p.m. on June 21 in an apartment on Philip Street in the McCully area. According to police, the suspect knocked on the victim’s door, broke in and attacked her. Alm warns residents to be vigilant in their homes.

“Local residents should lock their doors and windows even when they are at home,” he said. “Don’t open the door to those you don’t know. Local residents should become aware of any suspicious people in the area and report them to the police.

Baruz has been charged and charged with the following crimes:

  • Five cases of first-degree sexual assault
  • A number of kidnappings
  • A count of first degree slump

The case is being led by Assistant Prosecutor Victoria Chang, a member of the
Special Public Prosecutor of the Department.
