Former President Barack Obama was spotted maskless and scowling as he spoke to masked builders working on his new home in Hawaii.

Photos taken on Friday are the first to show the former president visiting the site of the newly built beach home on Oahu, The Daily Mail reported.

The photos show Obama talking to at least four other men from the construction company Armstrong Builders, all of whom were masked. Masks are not required to be worn outside in Hawaii.

The property on Oahu’s southeastern tip was purchased in 2015 by Obama’s friend and Obama Foundation chairman Marty Nesbitt for $8.7 million. The property was made famous by the TV show in the 1980s “Magnum PI”

Construction on the property came under fire in 2020 when reports surfaced that the project was using a loophole to hold up a seawall that is reportedly causing beach erosion. Seawalls interrupt the ocean’s natural flow and prevent beaches from moving inland. according to scientists and environmental experts.

Three houses will be built on the site, as well as two pools and a sophisticated security system.

Critics of the former president took to social media, calling him a hypocrite for not wearing a mask while all construction workers and architects were masked.

Barack and Michelle Obama’s office did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
