445 new COVID cases reported nationwide; 12 additional fatalities

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – For a second straight day, Hawaii reported 12 additional COVID deaths – as the islands’ deadliest phase of the pandemic continues.

In this month alone, the state has seen 149 COVID deaths. The new deaths bring the state’s death toll from the virus to 738.

Of the fatalities on Thursday, all had been hospitalized and nine were on Oahu:

Maui

  • A man in his 40s, hospitalized
  • A woman in her 80s, hospitalized

Hawaii island

  • A woman in her thirties, hospitalized

Oahu

  • A man in his thirties, hospitalized
  • A man in his 50s, hospitalized
  • A man in his 60s, hospitalized
  • Two women in their 60s, hospitalized
  • Two men in their 70s, hospitalized
  • A man in his 80s, hospitalized
  • A woman in her 80s, hospitalized

Meanwhile, the state reported 445 new COVID cases on Thursday. The new cases bring the total number of infections nationwide to 76,966.

Of the new infections reported on Thursday:

  • 267 were on Oahu
  • 81 on the Island of Hawaii
  • 52 on Maui
  • 30 on Kauai
  • 7 on Molokai

Eight residents outside of the state were also diagnosed.

7,117 cases have been reported in the past 14 days.

About 67% of the state’s population are fully vaccinated, while 75.4% have received at least one dose.
