Los Angeles Dodgers Training Academy hosts youth baseball camps on Oahu

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Members of the Los Angeles Dodgers Training Academy of Major League Baseball have come to Hawaii to teach the next generation of ball players.

Working with Hawaii‘s Kado Baseball Academy, the Dodgers will host youth camps for boys and girls ages 8 to 12 on Oahu in July, marking the beginning of a relationship between the World Series champions and the Hawaiian baseball community.

“We really want to build chemistry and partnership with the people of Hawaii throughout this process,” said Aaron Trolia, founder of the Dodgers Training Academy.

Trolia said the unique style of baseball played in the islands led his club to take the trip across the Pacific.

“Baseball has long been deeply rooted in Hawaii, and the style of play is so exciting and explosive to watch that it has always drawn attention when teams come to the mainland to play,” said Trolia. “We see a style of baseball that we should make possible for other children.”

The Dodgers Training Academy will host two more camps in July, with training taking place simultaneously at Mililani High School and the Mid-Pacific Institute.

20.-23. July and 27.-30. July are the dates for the camps, which run daily from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The focus of the camps is on training young people in the areas of hitting, fielding, pitching and running.

Trolia adds that these clinics are only the first stage in their expansion into Hawaii, with future plans to bring Dodgers players to camps, host events in the neighboring islands, and eventually establish training facilities across the state.

With the MLB currently in the middle of its regular season, there won’t be any current Dodgers this year.

“We have plans that we’re going to launch to make sure it doesn’t matter [one’s] economic status or where someone is, they will have the opportunity to participate in it somehow, ”Trolia said.

The cost for each camper is $ 299 and $ 249 for campers based in Hawaii.

In addition to the training experience, campers also receive a Dodgers shirt, hat and a 3 month subscription to the Dodgers digital training program.

The Dodgers Training Academy also plans to host more camps on the islands this winter and 2022.
