As the number of new Covid-19 cases continues to decline, Oahu will lift restrictions on gatherings and events.

Starting November 3rd, outdoor and indoor events such as concerts and sports competitions will be able to operate at full capacity, Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi said in a press conference on October 27th.

Only water may be served at the events and all participants must present a Covid-19 vaccination certificate and wear masks. Outdoor events were previously limited to 50%, while indoor events were limited to 1,000 participants.

Restaurants, bars, and gyms will continue to be capped at 50%, and shops selling liquor can stay open until 2am from November 3rd. You are required to close at midnight.

“We have finally reached a long-awaited moment of good news,” said Blangiardi. “We are moving forward, we are moving carefully, we are moving forward with love in our hearts and concern for our public, but we are moving forward. And we will do this in a positive way.”

From November 3rd, interactive events such as weddings and conferences with up to 150 people indoors and 500 people outdoors can take place. However, the venues can only be 50% full and all participants must wear masks and provide proof of vaccination. The organizers must submit Covid-19 containment plans to the district. Food and drink service is allowed.

On November 24th, indoor events can accommodate up to 300 people and the outdoor attendance limit will be completely lifted. Children under 12 years of age are allowed to take part in the supervised events.

The number of Covid-19 cases has been falling in recent weeks. Cases peaked in August, with the weekly average daily case number being 893 at the end of the month. On October 26, the average daily number of cases for the past seven days was 121.
