While cutting-edge Dubai grabs the top spot, it’s not the only entry in the Middle East. And this year’s list ranges from European classics to coveted tropical and desert destinations.

“Dubai is an ultra-modern city that has it all: golden beaches, world-class restaurants and beautiful hotels. Because the Travelers’ Choice Awards are based on reviews of attractions, accommodations and things to do in destinations, being considered the world’s best means that a destination has received excellent reviews from travelers across all of its tourism sectors,” said Reid.
“Despite the impact of the pandemic, over the past year Dubai has still attracted visitors from far and wide, proving to be their favorite destination in a year when they really needed some excitement,” he said.
For people looking to join the in-crowd in Dubai this year, entry rules can be a bit complicated and depend on where you are from.
The United Arab Emirates, which includes Dubai, has accepted tourist visa applications for vaccinated travelers from all but a dozen African nations.
Passengers arriving in Dubai from most countries must present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival, but this is reduced to 48 hours for arrivals from selected destinations.
