Kaile Halvorsen of Santa Clara was selected in the third round of the NWSL draft today.

In the draft of the National Women’s Soccer League today, two players with a connection to Hawaii were selected.

Campbell alumna Chardonnay Curran, who recently finished her fifth season in the senior class in Oregon, was drafted 17th overall by Kansas City Current in the second round.

Kaiser graduate Kaile Halvorsen, who won a national championship in Santa Clara before recently ending her senior season with the Broncos, was picked 32nd overall in the third round by OL Reign.

OL Reign is based in Washington state and will play its 2022 home games at Lumen Field, home to the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.

Curran holds the UO record with 92 games played. She started all 19 games in midfield last season and scored three goals with two game winners. She is also the first player in program history to be selected in the first two rounds of the NWSL draft.

Halvorsen scored three goals and two assists in her senior season at Santa Clara.

Kamehameha alumna Caprice Dydasco was named NWSL Defender of the Year 2021 last month. Dydasco plays for NJ / NY Gotham FC.
