Laura Beeman’s tenth season as the University of Hawaii women’s Hawaiian basketball coach begins with a trip to Southern California and includes the return of two preseason tournaments.
The Rainbow Wahine announced their 2021-22 schedule on Friday and will officially end the season on November 9th in San Diego. They’ll face USC two days later on Beeman’s return to their last coaching post before taking on the 2012 UH program.
The Wahine will make their home debuts on November 19 against Portland and on November 21 against Portland State in the Bank of Hawaii Classic. UH has matchups with Eastern Illinois, Utah and Gonzaga in the Rainbow Wahine Showdown on Thanksgiving weekend November 26-28.
After a home game against Loyola Marymount on December 5th, the wahine will take a two-week hiatus leading to a street game at the UNLV on December 21st to close the non-conference schedule.
UH opens the Big West season with street games at UC Riverside on December 30th and UC Davis on January 1st. The regular season ends on March 5th at home against UC Santa Barbara with the Big West tournament following in Henderson, Nevada. from March 9th.
The wahines hit Hawaii Pacific University in an exhibition game on November 3rd. They went 9-8 in a shortened 2020/21 season that only included two games without a conference.
