Latest developments:

• The Department of Health reported 588 new confirmed and probable cases across the state Thursday, including 388 in Oahu, 96 in Hawaii, 53 in Maui, 38 in Kauai, four in Molokai and nine residents diagnosed outside of the state.

• There are now 73,856 confirmed and probable cases nationwide, including 51,613 in Oahu, 9,207 in Hawaii County, 8,883 in Maui County (8,557 on Maui, 137 on Lanai, and 189 on Molokai) and 1,867 in Kauai. A total of 2,286 Hawaiian residents have been diagnosed outside of the state.

• Eight new deaths were reported on Thursday. Seven were on Oahu. These included a woman in her thirties, a man in her fifties, a man in her seventies, and a man over 80, all of whom were hospitalized with underlying medical conditions. The other three deaths included a woman in her 40s who had underlying illnesses and was not hospitalized, and a man in her 60s and a woman 80 or older who both had underlying illnesses and died at home. There was one death on the island of Hawaii, a woman in her 80s with underlying medical conditions who was hospitalized.

• The state death toll now stands at 679, with 518 in Oahu, 79 in Maui, 68 in Hawaii, eight in Kauai, one in Molokai and five residents who died outside of the state.

• Honolulu County averages 412 new cases per day and a test positive rate of 7.8 percent, followed by Hawaii County with 91 cases and 6.9 percent, Kauai County with 32 cases and 4.8 percent, and Maui County with 54 cases and 4 .5 percent.
